Happy Sunday!
The Rough And Rowdy Ways World Wide Tour 2021-2024 was certainly something special in the Dylan-universe. This tour now is history (most likely, we never know with Bob…), but what remains are our memories and tales from the road and attending some of those wonderful shows.
For me, personally, the four shows at the London Palladium in fall 2022 were really special, and the two shows in Lyon in summer 2023 were probably the best and most intense shows from this tour I’ve seen. The shows in my hometown Frankfurt were special in its very own right for me, were I had my father joining me for one of the shows, as well as another friend who has seen Dylan only once previous to that Frankfurt show. And they all really liked what they saw. Stuttgart and Düsseldorf were really, really strong shows when it comes to pure performance aspects. Of course I’ve missed a lot of the UK shows, and many people said that the Wolverhampton shows were among the best of the tour.
Then, of course, the Royal Albert Hall shows. The most special setting I could imagine to end a special tour like this, with great and precious memories from preshow gatherings at the iconic Troubadour…

I caught 4 shows in London ‘22 2 in Osaka ‘23 and 3 in London ‘24.
I honestly think they got stronger and stronger. The final show at RAH was intense and some of his “final” song arrangements were my absolute favourites… “My Own Version Of You” and “Key West” particularly so.
If I had to pick a low point then it would be the exhausting and exhaustive tour of Southern Europe in ‘23. I’m sure the shows were great if you attended, but from listening to the recordings, the shows became a little less energetic to my ears.
What a tour it was though.
This album is seared into my consciousness in a way that hasn’t happened since Time Out Of Mind.
