Today 12 years ago Bob Dylan played in Cap Roig, Spain.
It was an interesting venue with interesting ticket prices. Nevertheless, I treated myself to the concert and combined it with a short vacation in Barcelona.
On the day of the concert, while I was still in the hotel, I brought up the subject (perhaps more than once) with my girlfriend about whether Bob Dylan might play “Song To Woody” today, or a Woody Guthrie cover, since Bob Dylan’s greatest hero would have turned 100 today.
With a certain amount of hope and anticipation, I finally went to the most expensive concert of my life to date. But Bob Dylan did what was expected and acted as if he hadn’t realized that it was Woody’s 100th birthday.
Let me know what you think. Do you think Bob knew about it and chose not to honor him like he did with so many others? Or do you think he simply forgot about it?
