Any Day Now? Waiting for the Fall tour announcement
From leak to launch - how past fall tours came to life.
Summer has arrived — and with it, the anticipation builds: where will Bob Dylan perform this fall?
A look back might offer some clues. In recent years, Dylan has typically announced his fall tour dates between June and August — though in many cases, the first “leaks” began circulating in fan forums well before any official word. Is there a pattern to this rollout? And if so, what might it tell us about the tour ahead? We've taken a closer look at when recent fall tours were announced — and when the earliest leaks surfaced.
In this article, we’ll first focus on the past few years: 2022 to 2024. We’re excluding 2021, as the announcement that year came unusually late — at the end of September — likely due to pandemic-related uncertainty, making it an outlier.
Next, we’ll take a look further back at two pre-pandemic European fall tours: 2013 and 2015. For personal reasons, we’d be happy to see a European tour happen, so we’re also checking out these two tours to get a better overall picture. While it’s still unclear whether there will be a European leg in fall 2025, these earlier tours help provide additional context.
For the official announcements, we’ve referenced Bob Dylan’s official website (bobdylan.com), while early leaks were tracked via ExpectingRain.com, where relevant information often surfaces first in fan forums.
Recent Tours
2022: Dylan returned to Europe, with the tour kicking off on September 25 in Oslo. The first leak — three Paris shows — appeared on June 28. The official announcement followed about two and a half weeks later, on July 15.
2023: The fall tour took place in the U.S., beginning October 1 in Kansas City, MO. The first date to surface was Erie, PA, on August 14, with the official announcement coming a week later.
2024: Dylan once again toured Europe, starting October 4 in Prague. Buzz began on July 11 with news of the Edinburgh show, and just four days later, the full list of dates was released.
Looking Further Back
2013: The European tour kicked off on October 10 in Oslo. This year was unique in that the official announcement on June 12 came almost simultaneously with the first rumors — meaning no concrete dates were circulating beforehand.
2015: This tour also began in Oslo on October 1 but stands out for how early it was announced. A hint about a Stockholm show emerged on April 19, and the full announcement came just 11 days later. This early rollout may have been tied to Dylan’s summer tour in Europe that year, possibly allowing both legs to be promoted together.
Key Insights
Leaks ahead of official announcements have become the norm, though the lead time ranges from just a few days to several weeks.
2013 was an exception, with no firm dates known before the official reveal.
2015 saw an unusually early announcement, likely due to its overlap with a summer European tour.
From 2022 to 2024, leaks generally appeared shortly before the official word — varying from a few days (2024) to multiple weeks (2022).
The average time between official announcement and tour start is approximately 94 days.
What About 2025?
If Dylan follows past patterns, we can expect the official fall tour dates for 2025 to drop sometime between June and August — with early hints likely surfacing just before.
That means we could be getting an update very soon.
Daily Dylan guess: Based on recent years, our best guess would be that we’ll hear something concrete about the Fall Tour in July - after the upcoming Outlaw leg. Maybe with the first rumors leaking through during the tour.
