London Weeks - Madhouse On Castle Street Pt. 2
RIP Kris Kristofferson | New Bob Dylan Tweet | Spare Tickets Corner
Today, news went around the world that Kris Kristofferson had passed away, with the following statement from his family:
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news our husband/father/grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 28 at home. We’re all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”
Kris Kristofferson was a major figure at The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration and played alongside Bob in Pat Garret & Billy The Kid.

New Bob Dylan Tweet
Instead of an (more or less) expected statement regarding the passing of Kris Kristofferson, and after the mysterious tweet about Mary Jo’s birthday, Bob Dylan tweeted another message on X today:
Bob Newhart died in July 2024 and was an American actor and comedian.
London Weeks
In our London Weeks-series we want to dive deep into Bob Dylan’s first trip outside of North America. This often overlooked trip was more important for his career than most fans might imagine.
We will deliver bite-sized pieces of a puzzle, bring together the whole story of Bob’s first trip abroad.
We are coming to the end of 1962. It was an eventful year for Bob Dylan in many ways. His first album was released, and he is already in the middle of recording his second album. By now, he has long been a regular at New York's most prestigious folk establishments, places like Gerdes Folk City and the Gaslight. Greenwich Village has become the much-quoted comfort zone for Bob Dylan. He has quickly made many friends and established important connections.
But how would a Bob Dylan, whose first album flopped, sell himself outside of this comfort zone?
Why was this first overseas trip such an important point in the early career of 21-year-old Bob Dylan?
Join us on a journey to London, over 60 years back in time, to see how this first trip, of which we can actually tell so much about, affected Bob Dylan's subsequent career.
Madhouse On Castle Street - Part 2
Yes, I would like to linger on that play a little longer (just briefly) because this play was the reason Bob left North America in the first place.
The four songs that Bob performed during the play:
Blowin’ In The Wind
The Ballad Of The Glidin’ Swan (composed by Evan Jones and re-written by Bob Dylan)
Hang Me, Oh Hang Me (trad.)
Cuckoo Bird (trad.)
Unfortunately, the BBC destroyed all copies of the play, but thanks to some rare bootlegs the songs that Bob performed are still circulating.
On Woolhall’s YouTube channel one can find a pretty interesting documentary about the play. It’s worth checking it out:
